From Setback to Startup

Before launching his business, Shane spent nearly seven years managing cybersecurity and critical technology systems for a company in Moultonborough. A new opportunity soon followed, one that came with a raise, strong benefits, and a promising future.

Just 90 days into the role, and immediately following a pre-planned family vacation, Shane returned to work to learn, without much explanation, that his position had been eliminated.

Rather than stall, Shane regrouped. He earned additional certifications, rebuilt his resume, and evaluated his next move. After weighing a long daily commute against starting his own business, he and his wife made a defining decision. It was time to bet on himself.

And just like that, the wires began to connect.

Building a Business on Resilience

Shane was not starting from scratch. Since 2021, he had been helping New Hampshire small businesses with IT needs on the side. When he officially launched 603 Technology Solutions in 2024, he already had loyal clients and real momentum.

Early on, he also acquired clients from a managed IT firm that was closing its doors, helping propel his business forward even faster.

Opening New Doors with the NH SBDC

While attending a Lunch and Learn event in Concord, Shane connected with the NH SBDC and soon began working with Business Advisor Janie Wang. Since then, Janie has supported Shane as he expanded his marketing efforts, strengthened his networking strategy, and clarified the value he brings to clients.

With her guidance, Shane joined three Chambers of Commerce, became involved with the NH Tech Alliance, and tapped into educational opportunities such as the NH Cybersecurity Summit.

In Shane’s words, “Janie has saved me frustration, time, and money.” He credits her with helping him avoid costly missteps and stay focused on sustainable growth.

“You cannot be an expert at everything. Find someone who knows what you do not, like the NH SBDC, and use them as a resource.” Shane P.

Strategic IT That Delivers Real Savings

Shane’s approach goes far beyond “call me when something breaks.” He focuses on solving operational inefficiencies and delivering long-term cost savings.

One standout offering is utility bill consulting. With access to specialized telecommunications pricing, Shane has helped clients cut phone and internet expenses, sometimes by as much as 50 percent.

His clients range from organizations with complex IT and security requirements, including HIPAA compliance and custom networks, to small businesses simply seeking faster and more reliable internet for staff and customers.

Above all, Shane takes the time to understand each client’s business so technology works for them, not against them.

His advice to fellow entrepreneurs is simple but powerful. Always stay open to learning and growing. As he reminds his children, “The day you stop learning is the day you stop living.”
