Recognizing Leadership
The NH Department of Environmental Services has launched the Environmental Leadership Initiative to recognize environmental leaders among the Granite State’s business community.

Aspiring Leaders meet regulatory requirements, and show a desire to be proactive in their environmental management strategy.

Green Leaders go beyond mere compliance to create an integrated system of economic, resource and social capital that creates eco-efficiencies, reduces risk and regulatory burdens. These leaders are models for other organizations to follow.

Economic capital, resource capital, and social capital are company assets or “engines” that drive business. Moving from “Non-compliance to Compliance” reduces the risk of fines, environmental clean-up costs, and a negative public image. Moving from “Compliance to Beyond Compliance” incorporates efficiencies, reduces regulatory burdens and improves public image. Beyond this is an integrated strategy where business opportunities are maximized and partners, stakeholders, and communities benefit.
